I hope you all had amazing summers. I am so excited to start the school year with you in the jump to FOURTH grade. I've worked really hard to get the classroom set up in a flexible learning environment that will help us be a successful, student centered learning community. I will be teaching Science and Makerspace to both classes again this year. Technology is a passion and we'll try to incorporate it into learning every day. Luckily, we get to take on this big year together with our faith to help guide us.
It will be my seventh year here at Sacred Heart (Wow, time's flown by!) I am positive we will have an amazing year. I grew up in Urbandale and went to Johnston. I attended St. Ambrose University for three years before transferring to Grand View to complete my student teaching in Des Moines. I graduated in 2010 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a Science Endorsement. I also have a Reading Endorsement. I continue taking courses and leading PD in the community with teaching strategies related to STEM. While attending St. Ambrose I was able to study abroad in Carlow, Ireland and teach at an all-boys school in a 4th year class. Studying abroad is an amazing learning and teaching experience that I love to share with my students.
I have worked hard to become a Seesaw ambassador and Osmo ambassador over the years. We will use both daily in our 4th grade classroom!
A few of my favorites: Sports Teams: Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Blackhawks
Color: All bright colors as you’ll see on display in our classroom
Food: Sushi, Thai, and all types of Mexican food. Sadly, I can't have many of your favorites since I'm allergic to dairy!
Season: Fall
Hobbies: Painting, building, creating, designing
Thing to do when not teaching: spending time with my friends and family. I enjoy camping (in a camper) and boating during the summer months. All year round, you can find me watching any sporting event. Graphic design and learning/experimenting with new technology are also top on my list.
