Welcome to kindergarten at Sacred Heart School! I am looking forward to a fun year as I work with you and your child!
I would like to tell you a little about myself. I have a degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood endorsement from Grand View University and a reading endorsement from Morningside College. After graduating, I taught third grade for four years in Des Moines before staying home with my children for twelve years. This will be my eighth year teaching at Sacred Heart. I have three children. My daughter, Rachel, will be a sophomore at the University of Iowa this year. My oldest son, Colin will be a sophomore at Dowling and Owen will be a 7th grader here at Sacred Heart. I have been married to my husband, Pat, for 23 years. When I am not working or driving my children to their numerous activities, I enjoy reading, crafting and riding my bike.
This promises to be an exciting year for you and your child as they make new friends and grow both academically and socially. While exciting and fun, I understand that kindergarten can also be overwhelming at times for both the children and the parents. This year will also have some unique challenges, but I am committed to meeting those challenges as best as I can. Please feel free to reach out to me at anytime with questions or concerns. I will also be communicating with you frequently to keep you well informed on our class activities and events.
We are very blessed to have Crissy Brown as our full-time associate. This will be her fourth year in kindergarten and her sixth year at Sacred Heart. Like me, she is excited to get back to school and meet everyone!
