My name is Abby Stamets (Mrs. Stamets), and this will be my sixth year teaching at Sacred Heart but I have been in the Early Childhood field for over 20 years.  I am excited to meet all of you and be your child’s preschool teacher this year!  For many children and families this is the first experience with school and we are excited to make it a good one. The children will make new friends and learn to get along with other peers and adults.  The year will be full of new experiences that will encourage your child to grow developmentally through age appropriate activities. 

A little about me: I graduated from The University of WI LaCrosse and then continued on to graduate from The University of Denver with a Master's in Early Childhood.  I grew up in WI but started my own family in MN.  In MN I worked in the early childhood and preschool field by working with families and children with Autism.  I helped families create a system and treatment plan that helped them be successful in the home and school environments.  I worked a lot with transitioning children into preschool and kindergarten classrooms.  Since moving to West Des Moines in 2012, we have been parishoners at Sacred heart and more recently have been the lead teacher in a 3-yr-old classroom.  I am very excited to work with you and your children at Sacred Heart.  

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family.  We spend many a night at the baseball /softball fields.  My husband is an attorney for Hy-Vee.  We have three children: Henry (13), Lillian (12), and George (7), as you can imagine they keep us quite busy.
