PBIS stands for positive behavioral interventions and supports. There are three main components of PBIS: teaching appropriate behavior in all settings, recognizing students when behavior expectations are met, and providing interventions when behavior expectations are not met.
PBIS is a team based, school-wide design for appropriate behaviors which includes all students and staff in all settings. It is a flexible approach that can be changed throughout the year to meet the needs of our student population. We will make changes by using the results of surveys and the analyzing discipline data.
The foundation of PBIS at Sacred Heart School is the four building-wide expectations (Have a Heart) which are reinforced daily in all school settings:
