Middle school uses block scheduling and students do not attend each class every day. Blocked classes are scheduled for a longer period of time than normal (90 minutes instead of 45). Each day, students have a 90 minute Language/Reading block as well as a 45 minute math, religion, and specials period. Science and social studies classes meet every other day for an 90 minute block. These extended periods allow students time for extended projects and labs that can be completed more effectively during a longer period of time. On Fridays students attend every class for a 45 minute period.
